Why cancer nursing is a job for specialists – read the article!

The European Oncology Nursing Society has compiled the evidence to show the value of the work cancer nurses do, and the specialist training and education they need in their work. Now they’re calling on policy makers to recognise cancer nursing skills, as outlined in the EONS Education Framework, as a specialty across Europe /  Kate Griffin reports.

The Finnish Oncology Nursing Society  was not only answering authors’ questions about cancer nursing in Finland, but also helped to contact other Finnish nurses. As a result, there are two Finnish voices in the article. According to Griffin, Finland comes across as a strong positive example that other countries could follow.

ESMO 2019 Congress (27 Sept – 1 Oct) in Barcelona, Spain

Cancer nursing, translating science into clinical practice and better safety for all

”After our fantastic partnership with the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) for EONS11 in Munich in 2018, EONS will again be joining with our ESMO colleagues for our 2019 conference this autumn, in Barcelona, Spain.

The tagline for ESMO 2019 Congress (27 Sept – 1 Oct) is ‘Translating science into better cancer patient care’ and we have designed our theme to fit with that, while retaining a strong focus on cancer nursing. EONS12 will also have a special focus on patient and occupational safety.”

EONS/ESMO Biosimilars survey

In cancer care biosimilars are introduced and as patents will expire from innovator biologics, more biosimilars are arriving to use. The European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) would like to collect information to understand the current knowledge, use and acceptance of biosimilars in cancer nursing.  They also want to know, whether there is a need for additional cancer nurse support and training on biosimilars in cancer treatment.

Therefore, it would be fantastic if you could find the time for taking this 10 minutes survey.
